TBR Reports on Stiegl Grapefruit Radler
File Date: June 29, 2014

File Name: Steamy Sunday Afternoon
The Beer: Stiegl Grapefruit Radler
Type: Fruit/Vegetable
Serving: Bottle
Stats: 2.5% ABV
Brewer: Stieglbrauerei zu Salzburg GmbH
Web Site: www.stiegl.at
State/Country of Origin: Austria
Brewer Info: We have been brewing beer here at our own brewery in Salzburg since 1492, always using the best spring water from the local Untersberg mountain. As the largest privately owned brewery in Austria, we have succeeded as an independent and self-sufficient family business. We wish to continue to produce Austria’s favourite beer, which is why we are dedicated to consistent quality and in turn to the art of brewing at the highest level!

Brewer Brand Hype: The grapefruit juice gives this cyclist a natural haze and herbduftige note. This leads to a juicy, fruity taste with a refreshing finish.
Label: Grapefruit Salzburger Stiegl Radler. Beer with fruit soda. Malt beverage speciality. 40% Stiegl-Goldbrau and 60% fruit soda from purely natural ingredients for an outstanding malt beverage speciality. Cloudy appearance.

The Brewski Review: Unfortunately, my mental and bodily dispostion to avoid the steamy 86 degree weather prompts me to be indoors to drink beer and write this review. And, I’ll say that this is the perfect beer to have on a sultry day even if you chose to kick back in the air conditioned luxury of the abode. The kids are screaming in the family room, my wife is cooking dinner and the dog is laying next to me stinking like she needs a bath and it’s still a good day to be inside even though this beer would make an equally snappy choice while grilling outside or having fun by the pool. The beverage pours a cloudy pale yellow and wiffs of a strong grapefruit aroma. At first taste, it’ll have you unless you some sort of hoppy IPA purist. It’s carbonated, light, crisp and all the flavor of a breakfast bowl of grapefruit. This grapefruit radler, with it’s tasty sister companion lemon radler, make me want to try the strawberry verion soon. If you would like to try something different stop by the beer aisle on your next trip to the store and pick up a few. I  think you’ll be very satisfied.

Drinkability: Will buy again.
Appearance: Cloudy pale yellow.
The Buds: Sweet grapefruit with carbonated zest.
TBR Cap Rating: 4.75 out of 5.

TBR Reports on Salzburger Stiegl Radler
File Date: 10.27.2012

File Name: Carving Pumpkins with a Summertime Shandy
The Beer: Stiegl Radler (Lemon Shandy)
Type: Fruit/Vegetable
Serving: Bottle
Stats: 2.5% ABV
Brewer: Stieglbrauerei zu Salzburg GmbH
Web Site: www.stiegl.at
State/Country of Origin: Austria

We wish to continue to produce Austria’s favourite beer, which is why we are dedicated to consistent quality and in turn to the art of brewing at the highest level!

tbr-lemon-insertBrewer Brand Hype: A popular shandy beer in three wonderfully refreshing flavours. Stiegl Radler is half Stiegl Goldbräu and half high quality soda with all-natural flavours. Low in calories and with a low alcohol content they make ideal thirst quenchers.
Label: Salzburger Stiegl Radler. Beer with Lemon Soda Malt Beverage Specialty. Austria’s Largest Private Brewing Company.

The Brewski Review: I think my wife and I may have found out new summer beverage. Right when I opened this one up the aroma of lemons came over me and I knew it would be good. And when I took my first sip….it was love at first gulp. I just had to tell my wife about it and she agreed. ‘I could drink this.’ she said (meaning, as a regular summertime beverage). So, its a real winner in our household. It’s nice and light, very well balanced with just the right amount of lemon. The soda adds a little bubbly to it and makes it taste like a lemon wine cooler. I’m sure beer purists would gasp at that thought but there’s room in this IPA world for a nice, light beverage in everyone’s fridge. And, as I get older, I want to drink what tastes good; not what OTHERS think is a good beer. Now, it’s only 54 degrees outside today and I just came in from carving a couple pumpkins with my kids. This beer was good today and I’ll bet it would be fantastic on a warm spring day or hotter than bille-blue-balls summertime afternoon. Try it today. I think you’ll like what you taste. Oh yeah, they also make raspberry and grapefruit flavor. Neither of which were at the store but it’ll be my mission to track these down next summer.

Drinkability: Oh yeah! Will be buying this again.
Appearance: Pale golden color.
The Buds: Excellent. Nice and light with a little lemon zing.

The Brewski Report Reviews Stiegl’s Premium Goldbrau Lager
File Date: 5.11.2011

File Name: Think Mr. Schwarzenegger drinks Austrian beer?
The Beer: Goldbrau Premium Lager
Type: German Pilsener
Serving: Bottle
Stats: 4.9% ABV
Brewer: Stieglbrauerei zu Salzburg GmbH
Web Site: www.stiegl.at
State/Country of Origin: Austria
Brewer Info: The path to success leads up ‘The Red Staircase’.The private Salzburg brewery combines tradition and innovation, forming a concept for success that makes Stiegl the strongest beer brand in Austria. The “beer with the red staircase” is an unmistakable symbol in Austria for “the art of brewing at the highest level.” Since 1998, Austria’s leading private brewery has consistently borne the conspicuous and unique brand logo. This means that the symbol of the Stiegl brewery can now be found everywhere, in circulars, TV ads, promotions, on glasses, advertising materials, and even on the furnishings in our house restaurants and shops. Stiegl is the largest private brewery in Austria, and is counted among the most successful companies in the country. The secret of this success: Top quality raw materials and production process, Europe’s most modern brewing technologies, innovative variety of products, motivated employees, commitment to tradition, economic sustainability, down to earth quality and the flexible decision-making structures of a family business.

tbr-red-step-labelBrewer Brand Hype: An elegant, refined beer with a pleasant hop bitterness. Lighter kiln-dried malt gives Stiegl Pilsner a light golden colour. With a marvellous bouquet of the finest Saaz hops, a characteristic bitterness and liveliness, it’s a favourite of beer connoisseurs who love a delicate hop note and fine, aromatic flavour.
Label: Since 1492. Imported Goldbrau Premium Lager Beer. Brewed and bottled by the Stiegl Brewery Salzburg, Austria. Brewed from malts, hops, yeast, mountain spring water according to the “Purity Laws of 1516”.

The Brewski Review: This ranks as one of my favorite beers. The taste was clean, crisp and enjoyable with just the perfect balance with the malt and hops. Not bitter but full of delicious flavor. I highly recommend you give this one a try. I’ll be buying a six pack in the not too distant near future. I’m inclined to say that when my kids are older, and I’m still alive, I’ll be dragging my wife to Austria to travel the country and find all the breweries including Stiegl. So far, Austria brewed beers are winning my battle to find the best tasting beers. I envy all those Austrians…hey, wasn’t Arnold Schwarzenegger from Austria? I wonder what he considers his favorite Austrian beer?

Drinkability: Most definitely.
Appearance: Clear, pale golden yellow.
The Buds: Gotta love the purity law.
TBR Cap Rating: 4.75 caps out of 5.
